Nuudles for Special Learners
|
Magic Nuudles have a place in the classroom, therapy sessions and in the leisure time
for students with special needs. As a manipulative with application for instruction, a
special education teacher can incorporate Magic Nuudles for the instruction of concepts in
math, language arts, position in space, and directionality. There are a variety of
accommodations to lessons that can be made because of the flexibility and safety of the
Nuudles with students who are tactually defensive or tend to mouth objects during
instruction.
Occupational and physical therapists can incorporate Nuudles into therapy with students to
enhance sessions with a new manipulative to encourage focus on fine and gross motor
objectives.
Teachers of the Speech and Language Impaired have an instructional aid to promote language
concepts with the opportunity for a student to create or demonstrate what was being taught
in therapy. Nuudles are a quick and easy tool to add to a session and give the student a
three dimensional example to take with them to the classroom and home. This provides more
communicative opportunities to share and practice what was done in therapy with the
classroom teacher, peers and parents.
For the visually impaired, Nuudles can provide an important venue for expression. Nuudles
allow them to create three-dimensional objects from their imagination quickly without the
need for other tools such as glue, tape, or scissors.
For older students, Nuudles can be used in recreational or leisure activities in the
natural environment or group home settings.
The imagination and creativity begins with the teacher. Students will be challenged to
explore a new medium to learn and practice what is taught in the classroom. Every
disability can access Magic Nuudles. Give them a try!
